Pandemic Law vote to take place Friday afternoon

The Chamber of Deputies will vote on the government’s Pandemic Law on Friday afternoon. MPs decided to delay a vote in the early hours of Thursday following a motion from the governing coalition. A lower house meeting to address the Pandemic Law began on Tuesday. However, the debate was blocked for many hours by the Freedom and Direct Democracy party, which filibustered during a preliminary discussion of the agenda of the session.

The Senate vetoed the Pandemic Law last week. The government say it will help it respond to Covid-19 but the opposition say it will give them too much power.
