Czech hockey legend Jaromír Jágr turns 50

Czech hockey legend Jaromír Jágr turns 50 on Tuesday. The best Czech hockey player ever enjoyed a 24-season NHL career during which he played for nine different teams. Jágr is first in NHL history in game-winning goals (135), second in points (1,921), third in goals (766), fourth in games played (1,733) and fifth in assists (1,155). He has been a mainstay of the Czech national team for years and fans remember the Winter Olympics in Nagano in 1998, as well as during the “Golden Hattrick” era from 1999 to 2001, when the team won three World Championships in a row.

Currently, Jágr is with the Czech hockey team HC Kladno and continues to enjoy teaching and encouraging younger players. He says that being around young people keeps him young.
