Steep rise in number of children suffering from anxiety and depression
Psychologists warn that the number of children with mental problems, anxiety and depression has significantly increased as a result of the pandemic, as well as the number of children who have suicidal or self-harm tendencies. Teachers and child help lines confirm this concern. According to experts, children’s growing mental problems stem from fears linked to the protracted pandemic, social isolation, and in some cases their parents’ growing financial problems. In view of the increase, the number of child psychologists and psychotherapists are proving woefully inadequate.
