2021 tourism numbers down by half compared to pre-Covid period
Some 11.4 million tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in the Czech Republic in 2021, which represents a year-on-year increase by 5.2 percent.
However, compared to 2019, the number of accommodated guests went down by nearly a half, according to the data released by the Czech Statistics Office on Wednesday.
The number of domestic tourists increased by nearly 10 percent on the previous year to 8.8 million, while the number of foreign guests dropped by 7.6 percent to 2.6 million. The largest number of foreign tourists came from Germany, followed by Slovaks and Poles.
