Police investigate interior minister over actions while town mayor
The police have begun to investigate actions taken by the Czech minister of the interior, Vít Rakušan, when he was in a previous role, Czech Television reported. Mr. Rakušan is accused of abuse of office when handling the property of others while he was mayor of the town of Kolín. The specific accusation is that he acted illegally in connection with contracts on legal representation of Kolin.
The police are acting on a criminal complaint against the minister filed by a group called Chcípl PES, which campaigns against Covid restrictions. Mr. Rakušan has previously said that the matter was intended to discredit him and that he would refute it.
