Colorful ice falls in Wallachia
Colorful ice falls can be seen every year at Pulčín, close to the Wallachian village of Francova Lhota, during the period when frosts and thaws alternate. Icicles appear in fissures or overhangs and are usually at their best at the turn of February and March. Their yellow, orange, red or brown hues are caused by microscopic snow algae.
