Health experts divided over lifting of restrictions

Health experts are divided over the government’s decision to open restaurants, hotels and sporting facilities to all as of February 9th. Epidemiologist Rastislav Madar told the ctk news agency he would have preferred for the government to go at a slower pace and allow PCR and antigen tests as a Covid pass before completely lifting restrictions. Pavel Dlouhý, chairman of the Society of Infectologists, considers it absurd that a court ruling has effectively called an end to the pandemic in the Czech Republic.

On the other hand, other experts are criticizing the government’s decision to maintain the rule on mandatory respirators in enclosed spaces. Immunologist Jiří Šinkora says there’s no reason to maintain the rule any longer, immunologist Vojtech Thon says that at this stage respirators should be voluntary.
