Senate approves legislation enabling school principals to respond to Covid
The Senate on Thursday approved a proposal under which school principals could introduce online lessons if many teachers were out due to Covid-19 and would be able to draw on up to 10 discretionary school closure days a year. The draft legislation, put forward by the minister of education, Petr Gazdík, was approved under a fast-track procedure and it now only needs the president's signature to become law.Gazdík says the new rules are intended to prevent the widespread closure of schools due to the Covid epidemic.
