Thursday sees further growth in Covid cases

Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 6,641 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday. This is around 900 more than on the same day a week ago and the fourth day in a row that cases are rising. The weekly incidence number has also increased to 388 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Despite the growth in new cases, hospital admissions continue to fall. On Thursday, there were 2,632 people hospitalised with Covid, with 473 of them in serious condition.

According to the newly released data by the State Institute of Health, the omicron variant now makes up around 35 percent of all coronavirus cases and in some regions, it can be around 50 percent.
