Covid: number of new infections continues to drop

The daily number of new coronavirus infections reported in the Czech Republic continues to decrease. On Wednesday, 6,145 new cases were recorded, nearly 20 percent fewer than on the same day last week ago.

The number of Covid-19 patients being treated in Czech hospitals has dropped by nearly 25 percent since last Wednesday, to 3,363, of whom 18 percent were in intensive care units.

The seven-day incidence is 323 new infections per 100,000 population, a 20 percent drop from a week ago, according to Ministry of Health data.

Meanwhile, so far 57 cases of the Omicron variant have been detected, according to the State Institute of Public Health (SZÚ).
