Czechs are marking 10th anniversary of Václav Havel’s death

Czechs are marking the 10th anniversary of the death of Václav Havel, the dissident playwright and first president of post-Communist Czechoslovakia.

A series of events in honour of his memory is due to take place around the country on Saturday. The late Czech president will also be remembered by the network of Czech Centres abroad.

The main event, ‘Ten Years without Václav Havel’, is scheduled to take place at several venues in Prague, which will start with a traditional parade called Heart to the Castle, leading from Hradčanské námětí towards the Lucerna Palace.
