Czech ministries checking computer systems after agency warns of cyber threat

The National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NUKIB) ordered an update and vulnerability check for all state agency and associated business systems on December 10, Czech Radio reported on Wednesday.

The so-called reactive measure was issued after NUKIB found that hackers are making use of newly discovered mistake in the Log4J logging utility, which is a part of applications developed in the Java script programming language. The error provides attackers the opportunity to upload and initiate their own code, which in turn enables them to take control over the server.

The agency has also warned other Log4J users, who are not affected by the country’s cybersecurity law, are also potentially under threat.
