Government considering mandatory vaccination for seniors and people in high-risk professions
The government is considering introducing mandatory vaccination for people over the age of 60 and those in high-risk professions, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš told reporters ahead of his departure for a meeting of the Visegrad group in Budapest. The worsening coronavirus pandemic is expected to be high on agenda of the Visegrad group talks. The Czech Republic this week introduced the so-called Bavarian model of restrictions, aimed at unvaccinated groups of the population and shortened the minimal term between primary vaccination and the Covid booster shot to five months for people over 60 and people with chronic illnesses. Health Minister Adam Vojtěch has said he would like to see mandatory vaccination for seniors, doctors, caregivers, police officers, soldiers and firefighters.
