Terezín Memorial to mark 80th anniversary of wartime ghetto, Nazi camp

The Terezín Memorial will mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the wartime Jewish ghetto and Nazi concentration camp in the northern Bohemian fortress town on Thursday.

Several Holocaust survivors and their children will attend the event, along with diplomatic representatives, politicians and historians. The Czech Radio children’s choir with perform Brundibár, an opera originally sung by Jewish children interned in the Terezín ghetto.

Between 1941 and 1945, more than 150,000 Jews were interned at the site. About 117,000 did not survive the war.
