Tennis: Billie Jean King Cup starts in Prague on Monday

The first edition of the Billie Jean King Cup, an international women’s team tennis competition previously known as the Fed Cup, starts in Prague on Monday.

Twelve countries will compete for the cup, renamed in September 2020 in honour of the former World No. 1. The Czech team is led by Barbora Krejčíková.

The first matches start at 10:30am on Monday, with France facing Canada in Group A, and Belarus taking on Belgium in Group B. The Group D match between the Czech Republic and Germany starts at 6 p.m. The final will be played on November 6.

The relatively small nation of Czech Republic dominated the Fed Cup in the 2010s, with Czechs winning six of 10 competitions in the decade.
