Number of hospitalised Covid-19 patients tops 1,000 for first time since May

On Monday, 4,264 new Covid-19 cases were registered in the Czech Republic, an increase of 65 percent from the same day last week, Ministry of Health data show.

For the first time since May, more than 1,000 people are in hospital being treated for infection, with 1,055 listed on Monday, including 156 in intensive care units.

The death toll is also rising. In the past five days, 56 people with Covid-19 have died, roughly as many as in the first two weeks of October combined.
