CEZ: over 7,000 households still without electricity after gale-force winds
Over 7,000 homes are still without power due to the gale-force winds that hit the Czech Republic on Thursday. A spokesperson for the state-controlled utility ČEZ said the majority of affected households are located in Central Bohemia.
The highest wind speed recorded was registered on the Sněžka Mountain, where it reached 151 kilometres per hour.
Firefighters on Thursday responded to around 3,500 calls and have been working around the clock to clear roads and railway lines from fallen trees. A number of rail links were still not operating on Friday morning.
