Energy regulator wants supply assurances

The Energy Regulatory Office has demanded that all energy suppliers provide evidence that they can ensure supplies to their customers. They must submit this information by the end of this month.

The Energy Regulatory Office has limited leverage when it comes to examining or regulating the business strategies of gas or electricity suppliers and said in a statement that legislators did not foresee dramatic developments on the market when it was established.

On Wednesday Bohemia Energy, which had 900,000 customers, announced that it was shutting down. Two smaller suppliers have since also ceased supplying customers. This follows a massive rise in gas prices in Europe.
