Covid cases back to mid-May levels, PM calls expert meeting

Some 1,511 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the Czech Republic on Tuesday, an increase of over 400 on the same day last week and the highest number seen since mid-May.

The weekly case incidence rate has risen to 65 per 100,000.

The number of people hospitalised with the coronavirus has also increased and now stands at 388; of that number, 78 patients are in a critical condition.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has called a meeting of the national Health Risks Council, at which the Ministry of Health is due to present its strategy for responding to the rising figures.
