US Open: Karolína Plíšková defeated in quarterfinals by Maria Sakkari

Czech tennis player Karolína Plíšková, the No. 4 seed in women’s singles, lost her US Open quarterfinal match against No.2 seed Maria Sakkari of Greece on Wednesday in two sets (6:4, 6:4).

Sakkari’s win over Plíšková was her third straight victory over a Top 10 seed, after defeating No.6 seed Bianca Andreescu in a record-setting Round of 16 win, and Plíšková’s compatriot the No.10 seed Petra Kvitová the Round of 16.
