ACK: Agencies focused on foreign tourists struggling in Czechia
Travel agencies focused on the domestic tourism market have been forced to lay-off around 70 percent of their employees and are struggling to make business, according to the Czech Association of Travel Agencies (ACK). Unless there is state support for attracting foreign tourists to the Czech Republic, further cuts are inevitable, the association writes, warning that lower tourist numbers could lead to other services becoming more expensive as well.
The ACK is critical of the current system of travel conditions set by the Ministry of Health, which it says is “unclear” and leads to foreign tourists choosing other countries as their destination instead. The Health Ministry says that its travel list is created on the same database used by the whole European Union.
