Border crisis and Belarus in spotlight as Czech Foreign Minister visits Lithuania

Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek is currently visiting Lithuania where he is meeting with the nation’s leaders on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of established diplomatic relations between the two countries. Mr Kulhánek’s visit is primarily focused on mutual relations and the ongoing situation in the region, which is facing a crisis on its borders as the neighbouring Belarusian regime stands accused of illegally pushing migrants into the EU’s territory.

The visit also included a meeting with the leader of Belarus’ opposition, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Both agreed that the European Union should expand its sanctions list on members of the Belarusian regime and on the opening of a Belarus democracy office in Prague.
