Over 60,000 households in crisis situation

Up to 62,000 households in the Czech Republic have housing problems, Jan Klusáček, an analyst from the association For Housing (Za bydlení) said at a conference on Tuesday. Those affected are in temporary accommodation, have inadequate housing or are homeless. Up to around 166,000 individuals are facing such problems, 51,000 of them children, and their number is growing.

The worst affected places are cities in North Bohemia and North Moravia, say For Housing.

Around one-fifth of people living in hostels are old-aged pensioners.
