PM Babiš: future counterintelligence chief should be appointed by new government
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš says the future director of the counterintelligence service (BIS) should be appointed by the new government. He made the statement in an interview for CNN Prima News on Sunday.
The term of the current BIS director Michal Koudelka, who took up the post in 2015, is set to end in mid-August. If he is not re-appointed to the post by Mr Babiš, the opposition coalition SPOLU (Civic Democrats, Christian Democrats, TOP 09) has threatened to call for an extraordinary meeting of the Chamber of Deputies.
Mr Babiš is due to discuss the nomination of the new BIS chief with Social Democrat Chairman Jan Hamáček on Monday.
