Czech javelin throwers take two more medals at Olympics

The Czech Republic has taken two more medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo after a sensational final in the men’s javelin event on Saturday.

Jakub Vadlejch won the silver medal with a throw of 87.58 metres, while his teammate Vítězslav Veselý took the bronze with 85.44, both of them achieving their best result of the season.

The gold medal went to India’s Neeraj Chopra, who won the first Athletics medal for his country since 1900. The gold medal favourite, Johannes Vetter of Gemrnay, finished in the ninth spot.

The Czech team now has a total of eleven medals, four of them gold, which is the best result at the summer Olympics in the history of the independent Czech Republic.
