Weapons amnesty ends at midnight July 31
Saturday, July 31, is the last day of the so-called weapons amnesty when people in the Czech Republic have the opportunity to register, or hand over any illegally held weapons to the Czech Police without the risk of prosecution.
Folowing a change in legislation, the Czech Interior Ministry announced a weapons amnesty running from the end of January to the end of July. Thousands of weapons and tens of thousands of ammunition pieces have since been either newly registered, deactivated, or handed over to the police. This is the fifth weapons amnesty since the founding of the Czech Republic in 1993.
