Czechs take two more medals – including first gold – at Olympics
The Czech Republic has taken two more medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo after a sensational final in shooting’s trap event on Thursday. Jiří Lipták won the country’s first gold medal at the 32nd Olympics, while David Kostelecký earned silver. Lipták and Kostelecký were tied after 50 shots, hitting 43 targets for a new Olympic record. The two, who are friends, hit the first six targets in a shoot-off before Kostelecký failed to hit the seventh.
The Czech team now has a total of four medals. Earlier canoeist Lukáš Rohan came second in the slalom while fencer Alexander Choupenitch finished third in his event.
