Czech tennis and basketball players advance in opening stages of Tokyo Olympics

In their opening game at the Tokyo Olympics, the Czech basketball team managed to beat Iran 84:78. Patrik Auda led the scoring with 16 points. The team will face France in their second group game on Wednesday.

In tennis, four Czech players have advanced into the second round of the Olympic Games. Roland Garros winner Barbora Krejčíková and Markéta Vondroušová won their opening games on Saturday, followed by Karolína Plíšková’s 6:1 6:3 victory against France’s Alizé Cornet on Sunday. Meanwhile, Petra Kvitová beat Italy’s Jasmine Paolini 6:4 6:3 on Sunday.
