EU Commission head, Czech PM meet in Prague to discuss EU economic stimulus package
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is visiting Prague on Monday to negotiate with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) and other government officials about the size and scope of the bloc’s economic stimulus package.
The Czech Republic is likely to receive around 7 billion euros from the EU’s extraordinary pandemic fund based on a complete evaluation by the European Commission about the Czech part of the program.
Von der Leyen, who has already negotiated with more than half of the EU member states on the draft economic stimulus plan, is to discuss with Babiš details of the Czech strategy for allocating EU funds. However, 37 percent of the money must be allocated to the fight global warming and 20 percent to the digitization of the economy.
