Covid-19: GPs could start vaccinating children in September
The Pfizer/BioNTech jabs could be available at pediatricians’ surgeries for children over the age of 12 in September, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch said on Sunday, adding that the ministry is currently selecting a distributor of the vaccine.
At the moment, the Health Ministry’s central registration system is open to everyone over the age of 16. The vaccination of children between the ages of 12 and 15 could be launched by late summer – ahead of the next school year. According to Mr Vojtěch, there are between 400, 000 to 500,000 people in this age bracket.
The use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine against Covid-19 for children aged 12 and over was approved by the European Medicines Agency last month, while other brands are still undergoing testing.
