Tennis: Barbora Krejčíková advances to Roland Garros finals
Unseeded Czech Barbora Krejčíková has reached the finals of the Roland Garros after beating No.17 seed Maria Sakkari of Greece in three sets (7:5, 4:6 and 9:7).
A doubles specialist, Krejčíková is competing at the French Open for what could be her first Grand Slam title in singles. Krejčíková’s match with Sakkari was hard fought, lasting 3 hours and 18 minutes.
In Saturday’s final, the 25-year-old will face No.31 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia. If victorious, Krejčíková would be the first Czech woman to lift the Suzanne Lenglen Cup since Hana Mandlíkova in 1981.
