Health Ministry not planning to shorten intervals between vaccines for the time being

The Ministry of Health is not planning to shorten the intervals between the first and second dose of Covid-19 vaccines to the original three or four weeks for the time being. Ministry of Health spokeswoman Gabriela Štěpanyová told Czech Radio that the question is still being debated.

Experts recently recommended going back to the original 3-week interval between vaccinations in order to ensure that as many people as possible are protected against the infection in view of the possible spread of the Indian mutation on Czech territory. Several weeks ago the government moved to extend the period between vaccinations to 42 days in order to increase the number of people with at least one shot.

The inoculation process against Covid-19 in the Czech Republic is gaining momentum. The number of people vaccinated in 24 hours crossed the 110,000 mark three times in the past week.

Four million people in the Czech Republic have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, 1.7 million people have received both doses.
