Health authorities concerned about possible spread of Indian mutation in three districts
The health authorities have expressed concern with regard to a sudden upsurge in new Covid-19 cases in the districts of Českolipsko, Šumperk a Český Krumlov.
While in the rest of the country the epidemic is slowing with an average 35 new cases per 1,000 inhabitants in these three districts the number of new cases has risen to 100 per 100,000.
Experts say there is a high probability the spike is due to the spread of the Indian mutation in these areas. Samples from the regions are being sequenced by the National Laboratory and the results should be known within a week.
