Audit reveals numerous financial irregularities at National Sports Agency

A finance ministry audit at the National Sports Agency has revealed numerous irregularities in financial management, Czech Radio reported on Thursday.

According to the auditors’ report the agency spent millions on luxury cars and top notch mobiles and PCs without justifying the expenditures and often without an open competition.

The audit revealed 30 irregularities, such as a change of car tyres at the cost of 40 thousand crowns. There were also irregularities in contracts involving EU grants and excessive sums paid for outsourcing.

The former head of the agency, Milan Hnilička, resigned in mid-May, but claims his decision had nothing to do with the audit.
