Head of Czech Television issues criminal charges against member of supervisory council
The General Director of Czech Television Petr Dvořák issued criminal charges on Wednesday against Hana Lipovská, who is a member of the Council of Czech Television which is the supervisory body of public television in the Czech Republic. Mr. Dvořák said that he intends to protect the good name of Czech Television and his own reputation by pressing charges.
Ms. Lipovská, he said, accused Mr. Dvořák of endangering her life, something Ms. Lipovská disagrees with. She believes that pressing criminal charges gives others the opportunity to look into her criminal record.
Hana Lipovská is known as a controversial member of the Television Council, who was nominated by the Conference of Czech Bishops (ČBK). The head of ČBK, Jan Graubner, called on Ms. Lipovská to resign from the council last week, because her activity seems to be influenced by specific interest groups within the country, he said.
