Rise in disinformation and fake news around Vrbětice explosions

The row between the Czech Republic and Russia over the 2014 explosions at the Vrbětice depot has dominated the Czech media for several days now, including sources presenting disinformation and fake news. Czech Television reports intensified activities by trolls which quickly switched from the coronavirus crisis to the Vrbětice affair. Many present the official Russian stand, according to which the Czech Republic is a puppet of the United States and its accusations are part of an anti-Russian campaign orchestrated by the CIA. Another version is that the weapons blown up in Vrbětice were intended for Islamic militants and were blown up in Czech interests.
