EU official: Union stands in solidarity with Prague over expulsion of Russians
The European Union stands in unity and solidarity with the Czech Republic following its expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats over Moscow’s suspected involvement in explosions on Czech territory, says the EU’s foreign affairs chief, Josef Borrell. He made the comment after a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday.
Mr. Borrell said EU states would not support the Czech Republic’s approach in a coordinated way, adding that Prague had not requested this.
The Czech acting foreign minister, Jan Hamáček, said his counterparts from states such as Slovakia, Austria and Bulgaria had expressed direct support for the Czech Republic.
