Archaeologists unearth remains of woolly rhino in Brno

Archaeologists have unearthed the jaws of a woolly rhino on the southern bank of the Svratka River in Brno. They believe the animal was killed by prehistoric hunters 16,000 to 20,000 years ago. A large number of flint instruments previously found in the vicinity point to a former settlement in this locality. The rhino jaws, measuring about 60 centimetres are a rare find in this part of the world.  Woolly rhinos were part of the megafauna during the Ice Age.
