People free to travel between districts, but no more than two people can meet indoors and out
The state of emergency in the country expired at midnight on Sunday, bringing to an end the ban on travel between districts as well as the night curfew. The government has ordered primary school lower grades back to the classroom –with rotation between in-class and distance learning – and has allowed selected shops and farmers markets to reopen. The shops that have been allowed to reopen are those selling children's clothing and footwear, stationery, dry cleaners, laundries, and locksmiths.
Monday also saw the reopening of zoos and botanical gardens.
However at the last minute, the government decided against loosening the ceiling on indoor and outdoor gatherings, reaffirming that rule that only two people can meet indoors and outside. Originally, it promised to allow ten people to meet indoors and twenty outside.
In response to protests from sports clubs, the government agreed to allow twelve people to perform sports activities outdoors in groups of two, which must be ten metres apart. The ceiling on weddings and funerals is 15 people.
