MEP Zahradil facing probe for not disclosing Chinese sponsorship

The Czech MEP Jan Zahradil is facing a formal probe into whether he failed to reveal financial support from the Chinese Mission to the European Union, Politico reported. A senior official told a Dutch magazine that European Parliament President David Sassoli had ordered a group of MEPs to investigate whether Mr. Zahradil followed its rules.

The Civic Democrat politician chaired the EU-China Friendship Group, comprising China-friendly MEPs but suspended it after Politico reported on security concerns surrounding it.
