Covid vaccine open to ‘indispensable’ workers police and firefighters

“Indispensable” employees working in critical infrastructure, as well as certain police and firefighters, can now register to be vaccinated against Covid-19. The new phase concerns some 9,000 people, Minister of Health Jan Blatný said.

Until now, vaccination has been open to medical staff, seniors over 70 and people with chronic illnesses. After Easter, the vaccination of people over 65 will also be launched, along with social workers in facilities for the elderly or disabled.

To date, over 1.1 million people in the Czech Republic, roughly every tenth resident, have received at least one vaccine dose, according to the Ministry. Nearly 440,000 people have already received the necessary two doses.
