Ecologists calling on head of Czech environment agency to resign

Members of the Green Circle association of ecological organisations published an open letter on Wednesday in which they call for the resignation of Erik Geuss, the director of the Czech Environment Inspection Agency (ČIŽP).

The letter states that the agency failed in its investigation of the cyanide poisoning in the Bečva river last September, which killed all living organisms along a 40-km stretch, including over 32 tons of fish. According to the signatories, the agency has not conducted the investigation effectively and no culprits have yet been found after what is more than half a year since the poisoning occurred.
