MPs set to this week discuss extending state of emergency

The Chamber of Deputies looks set to debate extending the current state of emergency during the coming week, in connection with the coronavirus emergency. The government will ask MPs to approve an extension of the state of emergency on Monday, the Czech News Agency reported.

Minister of Health Jan Blatný has called for the maintenance of present strict restrictions to ensure a ban on travel between districts continues until at least after Easter.

There is as yet no agreement in place between the government and opposition over prolonging the state of emergency, but the latter should receive information on the efficacy of the current measures on Monday, the Czech News Agency said.
