MPs to discuss Nat’l Recovery Plan to draw EU ‘SURE’ funds on March 26
MPs will discuss the government-sponsored National Recovery Plan, which would serve as a basis for the Czech Republic to draw money from a new European Union fund, at an extraordinary session on March 26.
Opposition MPs called the session to hear the cabinet’s plans for using the first EUR 1 billion (CZK 26 billion) from the EU’s instrument for temporary Support to mitigate Unemployment Risks in an Emergency (“SURE”). The fund aims to help EU member states maintain the financial means to deal with the economic and social impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The European Commission has set an April deadline for the recipient states to submit their National Recovery Plan. Seventy percent of it must be used by 2022, and all by 2023. The money must be reimbursed by 2026.
