Saxony wants to create Covid buffer zone on border with Czech Republic
Saxony wants to create a Covid buffer zone on its border with the Czech Republic through a blanket inoculation of inhabitants in the border region.
The prime minister of Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, announced the plan in an interview for ZDF, saying that the current restrictive measures on the border were proving inadequate.
The aim is to inoculate the inhabitants of Vogtland, which borders on the Karlovy Vary region and which has seen a steep rise in infections, as soon as possible.
Germany ascribes the spread of the infection in its border region to Czech cross border workers who commute there daily.
