Number of people requiring intensive care continues to grow

Some 6,755 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in the Czech Republic on Saturday, which is around 1,600 more than on the same day last week, the Health Ministry data shows.

Some 6,000 people are currently hospitalised, 500 fewer than on Friday. However, around 1,300 of patients require intensive care, which is a record-high since the start of the pandemic in the country.

The total number of active cases now stands at nearly 119,000, the highest figure since last October.  Over 6,300 people are hospitalised, with more than 1,200 in serious condition.
