Queue at Czech-German border-crossing at Rozvadov stretches 12 km

Motorists looking to cross into Germany at the Rozvadov, in the Tachov region are again facing hours of delay due to the need to produce negative Covid-19 test results. As of noon, the queue of mainly lorry drivers with foreign plates stretched some 10 to 12 kilometres long.

Germany closed its border with the Czech Republic on Sunday after designating the country as "very high risk" due to the growing number of variant coronavirus cases on Czech territory. The country’s health minister is reportedly planning to extend entry restrictions at least until the start of March.

Currently, only selected cross-border workers in the health care and critical sectors are allowed short-term entry. Like truck drivers transiting Germany, they must produce a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours.
