Ex-Central Bohemia governor David Rath to work as a prison doctor while an inmate

David Rath, a former governor of the Central Bohemian region and minister of health serving a seven-year sentence for convicted taking bribes to rig public contracts, will work as a doctor in the Brno prison hospital.

Dr Rath was convicted of manipulating tenders for the reconstruction of Buštěhrad Castle and an elite high school, as well as for purchasing equipment for Central Bohemia hospitals and a seniors’ home.

A Prison Services spokesperson said that he may be assigned to serve in the coronavirus unit where Dr Petr Kott, who was convicted in the same bribery case dating back to 2012, is already working.
