Parties begin discussing electoral law changes

The parties in the Czech lower house are due to begin talks on Tuesday on how to amend the country’s electoral law. MPs are required to change it after the Constitutional Court repealed part of the legislation.

Judges ruled last week against an article under which parties running in blocs each need to reach the 5 percent threshold individually. They also overturned a system in which more votes are required to win seats in certain constituencies.

Senators are also due to discuss the amendment, which must be approved by both houses.
