Reproduction number rises but risk index stays in level four bracket
The national risk index was still in the bracket for level four, with 68 points out of 100, on Friday. However, restrictions set according to the highest level – five – remain in place in view of the high number of hospitalised Covid-19 patients. One of the factors used to calculate the risk index, the coronoavirus reproduction number, climbed slightly to 0.99, continuing a fortnight-long upward trend.
The index, which was introduced in November, is currently being overhauled. The minister of health, Jan Blatný, said on Thursday that it was no longer relevant for the setting of measures aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.
From midnight Friday stricter rules for staying at accommodation facilities come into force, while ski centres will not be allowed to operate chair lifts.
